Your online presence is something that is becoming increasingly important as time goes on. Not only does it allow you to connect with more people who may offer you an interesting opportunity, but it also means that a potential employer can find you online, and make a judgment about whether you’d be a good fit for the role or not.

If you do have a great online presence, it makes a good first impression where it matters the most.

But how can you actually improve it?

Be careful what you post

In some cases, people have had their online presence ruined by a Tweet that they have lived to regret, or a drunken photo that may have come to the surface, even though you thought that it was long gone. If you want to be sure that your online presence will impress the people who can offer you a job, then you need to be a bit cautious about what you’re posting online. You can always delete these things, but the truth is that they sometimes hang around in other places.

Post regularly

When you’ve decided what you are going to post, it’s a good idea to post as regularly as you can, even if you’re out there travelling. Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know, and your online presence won’t be either. Establishing yourself on the various platforms means that you post regularly, and accrue a bit of a following as a result. This even applies to things like LinkedIn, where your potential employers are most likely to see you via a post that you’ve put up there.

Utilise SEO

If you want to make sure that you’re extending your reach as far as you possibly can, then utilising SEO is a good idea. If you’re not sure how to do this then it’s wise to talk to an SEO agency, but it’s basically about getting your website (and your other pages) out there on as many other websites as possible.

You can do this through specific companies, or you can simply write guest posts for other bloggers, with the right links in them. Look at how SEO could help to further your reach!

Make connections

Whilst reaching out to people to build your own image can seem like a bit of a shallow thing to do (and we’re with you on that one), this isn’t what we mean here. Making connections means that you find people who are into what you’re doing, and you build a community to help each other out, and to provide advice. Don’t just message somebody asking for them to share your URL, as this rarely works. Focus on building lasting relationships, and benefitting from them naturally.

So, if you want to improve your online presence, then make sure that you follow these simple tips. From posting regularly – and posting the right things – to utilising SEO and making some good connections, there are many ways to make your mark on the online world! Good luck, and enjoy forming your online presence!
